OUR HISTORY
Established in 1989, The Golden Isles Chapter of the American Institute of Architects is a professional service organization gathering to improve our profession and come together as stewards to Golden Isles rich architectural history.
In 2010, Golden Isles AIA was approved as a 501(c)(3) foundation. The chapter meets monthly and presents continuing education, political advocacy, and leadership development to its members. Our membership is made up of traditional architectural firms and allied professional firms.
AIA Golden Isles was primarily founded by the efforts of Joe Schlosser. The American Institute of Architects recognized the chapter on April 16th 1984. The Chapter was founded as a 501(c)(3) in 1989.
Early members Julian Flexer, Lamar Webb, Robert Ussery, Tom Rule, Smitty Ledbetter, Ed Cheshire, Jim Andersen, to name a few, were the Patrons who contributed to the annual operations of AIA Golden Isles.
We thank early members Robert Ussery and David Amos for their continuous, ongoing support to this day.
